• As a "Visual Caption-Head", I believe in not only consistency but also the need to be flexible. One of my strongest traits is my ability to diagnosis an ensemble's performance related issue(s). I can then work with you and your staff to develop a strategic approaches to make adjustments to fix the problem(s). I also believe in introducing something new every rehearsal. "New" may be introducing a different technique(s) to help fix an issue, the introduction of a body movement or pose that is to be used in the given production, or an excercise to make the brain think in a different way.
• I start with Tried and True Marching Techniques that I have refined in the 35+ years I've been teaching. The foundations of which are compiled in my "Handbook" which is continually evolving since created over 15 years ago.
• I will work with you and any visual staff you may have to not only
set a plan for the training process but to also advise and help
construct effective/productive rehearsal plans.
• I treat my Handbook as a starting point, then gear each technique
package to the given ensemble's needs as well as that ensemble's given
year's show concept.
• All developed techniques are built from a sound foundation. Care is
taken to make sure that each item being taught relates back to that
foundation. This means that the student can apply basic information that
is learned on day one to the more advanced techniques taught later in
the learning process. I don't reinvent the wheel when designing a more
advanced technique package.
• Body Movements (static & transitional) are uniquely designed for each
ensemble - Movements and Styles developed for the "Production" are
incorporated into the training program so that when performed, the
movements become second nature to the given musical moments in the show.
